The Vietnamese lawmakers also had meetings with Commander-in-Chief of the Argentine Armed Forces Gen. Bari Del Valley Sosa, Acting Foreign Minister Daniel Raimondi, Vice Chairman of the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee Omar Perotti, and representatives of the Argentina-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group.

At the meetings, Ty affirmed Vietnam’s external policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation and diversification of international relations, with much attention paid to developing strategic ties with Argentina.

He underlined that Vietnam’s NA supports and appreciates the development of ties between the two countries, and is willing to promote exchanges and cooperation with the Argentine parliament. Highlighting the friendship, solidarity, and mutual support between Vietnam and Argentina, Ty stated that Vietnam has always highly valued the Argentine people’s solidarity with Vietnam during its struggle for independence in the past.

Vietnam wishes to foster its partnership with Argentina in a comprehensive manner and developing cooperation in economy, investment, trade, defence, and security on a par  with the sound political relations and potential of both sides, he said. He thanked Argentina for its support at the UN and other multilateral platforms, affirming that Vietnam is willing to coordinate with Argentina on mechanisms for common interests and for peace, stability, and development across the world. Ty also showed his delight at the growing relationship between the two parliaments over the past years, while suggesting measures to further foster the partnership in the future.

For their parts, the Argentine officials expressed hope to further strengthen the partnership with Vietnam both bilaterally and multilaterally. Michetti said that Argentina is keen on further promoting collaboration with Vietnam in all fields, pledging that she will direct Argentine agencies to hold meetings with their Vietnamese counterparts to discuss measures to expand bilateral cooperation to other areas such as defence and tourism.

She expressed her belief that the Vietnamese delegation’s visit will help lift up the bilateral relationship and make it more practical and effective. The Argentine leader also hoped that the two legislative bodies would introduce suitable legal policies to create optimal conditions for businesses of both nations to strengthen their partnerships, thus dealing with the imbalance in bilateral trade.

Meanwhile, both Pinedo and Perotti said that Argentina is ready to work with the Vietnamese NA in law-building and supervising the implementation of signed deals between the two countries and at multilateral forums. The Senate of Argentina wants to soon organise a visit to Vietnam to forge stronger cooperation between the two legislatures as discussed during the ongoing visit. Valley Sosa and Raimondi lauded the outcomes of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit. Argentina can support Vietnam in defence personnel training and in joining UN peacekeeping operations, they said.

Ty was informed that the Foreign Minister of Argentina will visit Vietnam from July 29-31 to discuss the details of areas of cooperation between the two sides.

Within the framework of the visit, the Vietnamese delegation also laid flowers at President Ho Chi Minh’s statue in Buenos Aires.
