“With these safe and effective vaccines, we are one step closer to beating back COVID-19,” the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City said on its Facebook page.

The latest batch has raised the total number of COVID-19 vaccines that the US Government has donated to Viet Nam to more than 14.6 million doses.

A day ago, Viet Nam received nearly 1.3 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the US Government.

The US is Viet Nam’s largest donor of COVID-19 vaccines. It is committed to supporting Viet Nam in the fight against COVID-19.

The US Department of Defence has delivered 77 out of 111 ultra-low temperature freezers to Viet Nam to help it store vaccines.

Besides vaccine donations, the US has committed US$26.7 million in grants to help Viet Nam respond to the pandemic and more than US$1 billion to develop local health infrastructure.

In June, US President Joe Biden pledged to share a total of 80 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines worldwide. The US said about 75% of the vaccines will be delivered through the COVAX Facility, while the remaining 25% will be distributed directly.
