The statement was made by Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang during his meeting with National Secretary of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel on July 12.

Thang briefed the host on the outcomes of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) as well as the country’s socio-economic development orientations and foreign policy in the coming time.

He thanked leaders and members of the French Communist Party for supporting the CPV and Vietnamese people during the past struggle for national independence and the current nation building and safeguarding cause.

National Secretary Fabien Roussel expressed his delight at positive developments in relations between the two countries and two parties, reflected through meetings of the two sides’ leaders amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said he was impressed by Viet Nam’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and its socio-economic development achievements over the past time.

He affirmed that his party’s members always exert efforts to strengthen bilateral multifaceted cooperation.

Both host and guest agreed to step up bilateral relations, with the focus on organising joint activities, intensifying delegation exchange and cooperation between Viet Nam’s Nhan Dan (People) newspaper and France’s l’Humanité (Humanity) newspaper.

The relationship between the two parties will continue creating a firm political foundation to consolidate the Viet Nam-France strategic partnership for peace, development and social progress as well as for the benefits of the two countries’ people, they affirmed.
