Two more COVID-19 infection cases confirmed, total rises to 331

Two Vietnamese women returning from Japan have been confirmed contracting COVID-19, raising the patient tally to 331, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said Monday morning.

313 of out 331 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam have recovered, accounting for 95%.

Patient 330 is a 28-year-old woman residing in Cam Xuyen District of the central province of Ha Tinh.

Patient 331 is a 47-year-old woman residing in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 5.

The pair, who work for a company in Ho Chi Minh City, left for Mexico on March 13 but they were stranded in the country due to border shutdown and suspension of international flights.

They flew to Japan on June 4 and then to Da Nang International Airport on June 5 on flight VN319.

More than 340 passengers on board the flight VN319 were sent to a centralized quarantine camp in the nearby province of Quang Nam.

Both of them were admitted to the Quang Nam General Hospital for treatment.

With the lastest patients, the number of imported cases in Vietnam rose to 191, the committee said.

Of the patient tally, 313 patients have been cleared of the virus, accounting for 95%, the committee added.

As of 6:05 am on Monday, 9,088 people who have been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from the pandemic-stricken areas are being isolated, including 72 at hospitals, 7,150 at centralized quarantine facilities, and 1,866 at places of residence.
