May 18 sees three COVID-19 patients discharged from the hospital.

Of the discharged pair, the country’s 188th patient had previously suffered a relapse.

The 44-year-old woman is from Chuong My district in Ha Noi and had been working as a staff member in the canteen at Bach Mai hospital, a COVID-19 hotspot in the capital, when she first contracted the virus.

She had originally tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus on March 28, and was then found to have suffered a relapse on April 16.

The other patient to be released is the country’s 261st case, coming from Ha Loi village in Me Linh district, another virus hotspot on the outskirts of the capital. The 60-year-old woman was first hospitalized with the COVID-19 on April 12.

Following their respective recoveries, both patients were successfully discharged from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi on May 21 after going on to record two consecutive negative tests for the COVID-19. At present both patients are enjoying stable health conditions and are displaying no symptoms of the virus such as a fever, a cough, or shortness of breath.

Following their discharge from the hospital, both individuals will now be placed into isolation to undergo a mandatory 14-day observation period, to ensure that there is no possibility of the virus reoccurring.

As of May 21 afternoon, 266 people out of a total of 324 COVID-19 cases have since gone on to make a full recovery from the virus nationwide, equivalent to 82%, with no deaths caused as a result of the virus.
