Traditional Lunar New Year 2025 wamly celebrated in Chile: Vietnamese Embassy
WVR - On February 15, in the capital city of Santiago, the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile organized a gathering to welcome the At Ty Lunar New Year 2025. The event brought together a large number of overseas Vietnamese, Embassy staff and their families, as well as close Chilean friends.

Despite its modest scale, the celebration was warm and festive, strengthening community bonds and showcasing the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international friends.
Among the distinguished guests were Ms. Patricia Abarzúa Muñoz, President of the Chile-Vietnam Institute of Culture and Friendship, members of the Chile-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, and many representatives of the Vietnamese community in Chile.
In his welcoming speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile, Nguyen Viet Cuong, reflected on Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in 2024. He highlighted that despite numerous challenges, Vietnam successfully met all 15 socio-economic targets, achieving over 7% economic growth while solidifying its position among the top 20 trading economies.

The Ambassador also emphasized the significance of President Luong Cuong’s visit to Chile in November 2024, during which six cooperation agreements were signed, spanning areas from defense and agriculture to cultural exchanges.
Recalling President Luong Cuong’s message to the Vietnamese community in Chile, “Wherever Vietnamese people are, the descendants of Lac and Hong are there,” the Ambassador noted that this simple yet profound message has touched the hearts of those living far away from home, evoking a strong sense of pride in their Vietnamese heritage.
Although the event took place in the middle of Chilean summer, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and nostalgia for home. Guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese dishes, which not only carried the flavors of their homeland but also provided Chilean friends with insight into the culture of family reunions during Tet.

As the event concluded, the Ambassador’s New Year’s wish, “Happy New Year - ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!” echoed a heartfelt message for peace and happiness in the coming year.
Beyond a simple gathering, the event reinforced the enduring connection between the Vietnamese community in Chile and their homeland, while strengthening the friendship between the two countries, bridging geographical distance with shared goodwill and cultural exchange.
