The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front convened in Hanoi

The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term with the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development" was held in Hanoi, from October 16-18, 2024.

Implementing Directive No. 22/CT-TW on the Congresses of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, over the past year, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has developed a plan and provided guidance for organizing Congresses at all levels. Congresses have been successfully organized in 10,597 commune-level units, 704 district-level units, and 63 provinces/cities. Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term is 1,052 delegates. Of which, 337 ex-officio delegates are members of the 9th Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the provincial congresses and member organizations elect 583 delegates; 132 delegates are appointed.

With the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development," the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024 - 2029, is tasked with comprehensively assessing the situation and results of the implementation of the Resolution of the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2019 - 2024, setting out the directions, goals and action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the new term. The Congress also discussed and considered many important contents, such as a report on reviewing the activities of the Central Committee, the Presidium, and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term IX, term 2019-2024; Proposal to amend and supplement the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term IX; Through the amendment and supplementation of the Charter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front...

The Congress has proposed 6 Action Programs for the new term, specifically: (1) Strengthening propaganda, mobilization, gathering people of all walks of life, strengthening social consensus, promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc; (2) Improving the quality and effectiveness of social supervision and criticism, implementing democracy, participating in Party and State building; (3) Encouraging people of all walks of life to compete, be creative, and effectively carry out campaigns and emulation movements; (4) Promoting the role of mastery and self-management of the people, building united, prosperous, and happy residential areas; (5) Improving the effectiveness of people's foreign affairs activities and work with overseas Vietnamese; (6) Continuing to innovate the organizational structure, content and methods of operation; improving the capacity of the Front's staff at all levels.

The Congress approved the number of members of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 10th term, 2024 - 2029, including 405 members, the Presidium of 72 members, the Standing Committee of 6 members; and the non-professional Vice President of 8 members. Regarding the combined structure, there are 203 non-Party members (50.1 per cent); 89 women (21.9 per cent); 103 ethnic minorities (25.4 per cent); 69 religious members (17 per cent); 327 with a university degree or higher (80.7 per cent).

Regarding age, there are 43 members under 40 years old (10.8 per cent); 190 members under 41-60 years old (47.9 per cent); 164 members over 61 years old (41.3 per cent). The youngest person born in 2004: 20 years old (Ms. Thi Ha, a representative of the S'Tieng ethnic group, Phu Nghia commune, Bu Gia Map district, Binh Phuoc province); the oldest person born in 1934: 90 years old (Thai Dau Su Tran Duc Tang, Head of the Standing Committee of the Cao Dai Minh Chon Dao Church).

In the logistics work of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024 - 2029, there is the support of the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank); Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank); Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade (Vietcombank).
