The pair Nguyen Trung Kien – Pham Hong Anh walked away with gold in Samba and Rumba, and silver in Cha Cha Cha.
Coach Chi Anh (Nguyen Hai Anh) analyzed the performance of the pair: "In the content of Cha Cha Cha, the opponent also danced very well, so it was normal to lose (gold medal). The opponent has a lot of experience and many SEA Games gold medals.
This is the first SEA Games gold medal of the Viet Nam pair. The first round at the warm-up of Nguyen Trung Kien/Pham Hong Anh was not familiar with the atmosphere. It seemed to be overwhelmed by psychology, but when playing solo, he (Trung Kien) performed very well".
Meanwhile, coach Khanh Thi (Nguyen Hong Thi) commented: "The silver medal of Nguyen Trung Kien/Pham Hong Anh is fair. The Philippine pair won at SEA Games 30. Viet Nam won only 2 gold medals that year, with one for Phan Hien and the other for the pairs Nguyen Duc Hoa/Nguyen Thi Hai Yen. At that time, Nguyen Trung Kien/Pham Hong Anh got bronze medals.

Referring to the high marks of Phan Hien/Dang Thu Huong, Coach Chi Anh explained: "Phan Hien is a very good athlete so far, he can get good results with any dance partner. Today he performed very well, his appearance is balanced, his speed is very good, and his technique is excellent."
Khanh Thi shared: "Actually, I think the pairs Phan Hien/Dang Thu Huong is a bit better than other dance couples in Southeast Asia. The reason is that Phan Hien has 12 years of studying abroad in Europe and And Phan Hien and Dang Thu Huong are currently the only Southeast Asian dance couples who regularly reach the top quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals of competitions in Europe.
Therefore, the return of Phan Hien/Dang Thu Huong to the SEA Games arena in Southeast Asia is also a very advantageous aspect compared to the remaining pairs. Therefore, the score achieved by Phan Hien/Dang Thu Huong is always between 8.3-8.5".
