On September 22, President Moon Jae-in expressed his regret and conveyed profound condolences to the family of the late President and the Vietnamese people over the great loss. 

The same day, President of Italy Sergio Mattarella cabled a message of condolences to acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh. 

He extended the sincere sympathies of himself and the Italian people over the passing of the Vietnamese leader. 

President Mattarella said that through the exchange of congratulatory messages marking the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic ties several months ago, he and President Quang had affirmed the importance of the strategic and dynamic partnership between the two nations.
