They need to develop a stable and long-term relationship to create a favourable environment for expanding their collaboration in areas stated in the “Vietnam-RoK Joint Statement towards the Future,” she said.

Vietnam proposes the RoK continue supporting the country in improving law enforcement capacity at sea, and share experience to help it effectively build and implement maritime strategies, she added.

The leader stressed that Vietnam always creates favourable conditions for RoK investors to engage in the country’s key works and encourages technology transfer in renewable energy, while coordinating in effectively realising the Vietnam-RoK Free Trade Agreement and the framework agreement between the two Governments on credits from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) for the 2016-2020 period.

For his part, President Moon affirmed that Vietnam is a strategic cooperation partner of the RoK in various areas. He said he wishes that the two will further enhance their cooperation, especially after this visit by Chairwoman Ngan.

He suggested Ngan and the Vietnamese legislature support Korean enterprises to do business in Vietnam, contributing to the economic development of the two nations.

As the countries share similarities in culture and history, Vietnam will be always a close friend of the RoK, said the President, who spoke highly of the contributions of the Vietnamese community to local development.

According to Moon, his country is pursuing the “New Southern Policy”, which focuses on enhancing ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with Vietnam being one of the most important partners.

As the RoK will host the ASEAN-Korea Summit in the time to come, he wished Vietnam would backing his country in strengthening relations with the bloc.
