At the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will attend the 18th BRICS Summit and conduct bilateral activities in India from September 12-13.
Vietnam officially became a partner of BRICS in June 2025, thereby expanding its participation in multilateral cooperation mechanisms, promoting economic relations with emerging economies, and enhancing its voice in international forums. Recently, Vietnam and BRICS members have developed substantive cooperation in various fields, with trade, investment, finance, science and technology, and energy transition continuing to be focal points.
Regarding Vietnam-India relations, the two countries share many similarities in vision and development aspirations. Vietnam aims to become a developed nation by 2045, while India targets 2047. The recent upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership opens up numerous opportunities for the two countries to collaborate and support each other. Vietnam consistently supports India in enhancing its role on the international stage, including its role as the BRICS host in 2026.
