PM welcomes RoK President’s Special Envoy

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc reiterated determination to implement effectively the free trade agreement with the Republic of Korea (RoK) to raise the two-way trade volume to US$100 billion by 2020.

The Government chief expressed his pleasure at the fine advancement of the bilateral ties, especially since the two countries established strategic partnership in 2009. The RoK is the biggest foreign investor and the second biggest trade partner of Viet Nam.

He highlighted that the bilateral relations have brought benefits to both countries and made practical contributions to peace and prosperity in the region and the world.

PM Phuc suggested both sides accelerate the exchange of high-level visits to further enhance political trust and deepen cooperation in an effective manner.

He expressed thanks to President Moon Jae-in for accepting the invitation to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week slated for November this year in Viet Nam.

He proposed the RoK support Viet Nam to develop the support industry, sign a credit framework agreement for the 2016-2020 period, and help the Southeast Asian country access credits from the International Development Association (IDA) after 2017.

Mr. Park Won-soon said this is the first time the RoK President sent a Special Envoy  to ASEAN, which reflects his country’s desire to beef up cooperation with the Association in general and Viet Nam in particular.

President Moon Jae-in attaches great importance to relationship with Viet Nam and expects to lift up the bilateral ties with Viet Nam to new height.
