The meeting saw the participation of leaders from ministries, agencies and three provinces of Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang, which are promoting the construction of Van Don, Bac Van Phong and Phu Quoc special zones.

With the aim of making special zones with international competitiveness and becoming the growth drivers of the nation, delegates proposed creating outstanding mechanisms to ensure fair, transparent and sustainable investment and business operation suitable with international regulations, expanding the market and tackling barriers in investment and operation activities.

Speaking at the meeting, PM Phuc asserted the determination to establishing a Law guaranteeing long-term and sustainable development.

He highlighted the spirit of ensuring international and regional competitiveness and seeking for advantages to attract investment.

The Government chief asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to update information on special zones and issues proposed by strategic investors.

He agreed to create an outstanding legal framework and special policies based on fair business spirit, regardless of foreign and domestic investors, policies to expand the market and reduce the application of business conditions at special zones.

Regarding the land policy, the law will be adjusted to extend the land hire and use and allow foreigners owning houses to 99 years and mortgage of assets in association with land use rights at foreign credit institutions.

The PM required orienting sectors to encourage investment in special zones in areas that Vietnam needs.
