Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse arrive in Baku to begin a state visit to Azerbaijan
On May 7, Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, Ngo Phuong Ly, arrived at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, beginning their state visit to Azerbaijan at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov; Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Elnur Mammadov; and Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Shovgi Kamal Oglu Mehdizade. Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation and concurrently accredited to Azerbaijan, Dang Minh Khoi, along with his spouse, and officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia also attended.
Right after arriving in the capital, Baku, General Secretary To Lam and his spouse will attend the official welcome ceremony hosted by President Ilham Aliyev at the Presidential Palace - Zugulba Palace.
Azerbaijan is the second stop on General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to four countries, including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Belarus from May 5 to 12.

This visit by General Secretary To Lam is the highest-level visit by the leadership of Vietnam’s Party and State to Azerbaijan since the two countries established diplomatic relations. The visit aims to further strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in sectors where Azerbaijan has strengths, such as the oil and gas industry and several other areas.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation and concurrently to Azerbaijan, Dang Minh Khoi, noted that recently, Azerbaijan has opened up significantly and could serve as a gateway for Vietnam to develop stronger relations with Central Asian countries and European nations. Vietnam is also ready to act as a bridge for Azerbaijan to enhance relations with East Asian countries.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Shovgi Kamal Oglu Mehdizade, expressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the visit of General Secretary To Lam and his spouse, and expects that this significant milestone will further strengthen the historic relationship between the two nations.
