The State leader and his spouse, together with a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, are scheduled to attend the high-level General Debate of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and take part in bilateral activities in the US from September 21 to 24, 2025.
Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen, Chairman of the Business and Patriotic Vietnamese Club in the Washington Metropolitan Area (DMV), believes that President Luong Cuong's participation and addressing speech at the United Nations General Assembly is a testament to Vietnam's increasingly prominent position on the international stage.
This is not only an occasion to affirm Vietnam's rising status internationally but also to ignite pride and expectations for stronger ties between the Vietnamese diaspora in the US and their homeland.
According to Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen, President Luong Cuong's bilateral activities in the United States hold significant meaning as the relationship between the two countries is thriving.
Following the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership, this visit is an opportunity to strengthen political trust, expand substantive cooperation, and lay the groundwork for new advancements in various fields in the near future.
Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen expressed his hope that President Luong Cuong's visit will vigorously promote economic, trade, investment, and science-technology cooperation between the two nations.
He noted that these are key areas that could enable Vietnam to make breakthroughs in its new development phase. Additionally, Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen hopes for more focus on cooperation in education-training, healthcare, renewable energy, and climate change, as these directly impact people's lives now and in the future.
Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen affirmed: "I believe that with consensus and determination from both sides, the visit will yield practical results, bringing mutual benefits to both our peoples".
According to Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen, the community of over 2.5 million Vietnamese in the United States always looks towards their homeland with deep affection.
He expressed his desire for the President's visit to open up more mechanisms and favourable policies for overseas Vietnamese to connect closely with their homeland, especially in investment, business, cultural exchange, and education activities.
"We also hope the State will continue to listen to the sentiments and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese, while also implementing more policies to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese people in the United States.
With this attention and practical support, the Vietnamese expatriate community will be an important soft power in promoting Vietnam's image on the international stage and contributing to strengthening the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the US," Mr. Gary Thanh Nguyen emphasized.
Notably, he expressed joy at the National Assembly's approval of the amended Law on Vietnamese Nationality, considering it "a new chapter" that provides overseas Vietnamese the opportunity to acquire Vietnamese nationality, invest, and live in their homeland with the status of "Vietnamese investors".
