National Reunification Day celebration held in Ho Chi Minh City

On April 25, the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975).

Addressing the function, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen noted that after national reunification, Ho Chi Minh City has carried forward the revolutionary tradition and the spirit of solidarity, dynamism and innovation to overcome various challenges to move ahead, significantly contributing to national construction and defence.

The official briefed participants on the city’s socioeconomic development after the COVID-19 pandemic, and its orientations and solutions to spur socioeconomic development, and ensure political security, social order, and safety.

Ho Chi Minh City will work to remove bottlenecks regarding institutions and procedures, speed up the implementation of public investment projects, enhance public spending, stimulate domestic consumption, recover production and business, expand the export market, and promote tourism, he continued.

In the face of difficulties and challenges which experts said are unpredictable, the municipal Party Committee has been aware of the need to seek opportunities to navigate such headwinds, he said.

The meeting offers a chance for the participants to honour historical values and a source of encouragement for generations to stay resolved to defend and construct the nation, he said.

Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in the city Phan Thi Thanh Phuong promised that youngsters in the southern economic hub are determined to uphold the spiritual values of Great Spring Victory 1975, and work hard for the development of the city.
