National remote sensing development strategy approved

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently passed the National remote sensing (RS) development strategy by 2030 with a vision towards 2040.

RS applications will be developed in different sectors including basic investigations and supervision of natural resources, environment, emergency search and rescue, natural disaster prevention, climate change response, and international cooperation.

By 2020, the strategy aims to perfect the list of public career services under RS sector and mechanism on information and data sharing; tighten State management competence on the field; and raise the  quality of State management manpower. 

By 2030, Viet Nam will master manufacture technology of RS satellites, receiving station system, processing of RS data, RS satellite stations, photos of Earth from drone equipment and hot air balloons; build a system to collect and process data of national RS photos in favor of socio-economic development, national defense and security.
