National Assembly Standing Committee considers draft revised Law on Water Resources

On March 15, the National Assembly Standing Committee offered opinions on the draft revised Law on Water Resources during their 21st meeting in Hanoi.

The bill comprises 88 articles and 10 chapters.

Head of the NA's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy said full-time deputies of the Committee agreed on the need to issue the revised Law on Water Resources to institutionalise the Resolution on the protection of environment, natural resources, climate change adaptation, disaster prevention and mitigation adopted by the 13th National Party Congress.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue proposed adding the important function of water resources in disaster prevention and mitigation, such as flood drainage, storage, regulation, flooding prevention, protection corridors, and supplementing the concept of flood drainage corridors.

He also suggested reviewing regulations on the calculation of water resources taxes in line with regulations on taxes and prices.
