On the morning of April 6, during the opening of the first session of the 16th National Assembly, the Assembly heard a report by Nguyen Huu Dong, Member of the National Election Council and Chairman of the Committee for Deputy Affairs, on the confirmation of deputies to the 16th National Assembly.
Presenting the report in the Hall, Nguyen Huu Dong stated:
– The election of the 16th National Assembly deputies was conducted based on universal, equal, direct, and secret ballot principles, ensuring democratic and lawful procedures.
– The negotiation, selection, and introduction of candidates for the 16th National Assembly were organized openly, democratically, and in accordance with the law. The steps to establish, announce voter lists, and candidate lists were carried out according to the procedures and timelines stipulated in the Law on Election of National Assembly and People's Council Deputies.
– Voters nationwide elected 500 delegates to the 16th National Assembly across 182 electoral units, adhering to the principles for determining elected candidates as stipulated in Article 78 of the Law on Election of National Assembly and People's Council Deputies
Regarding the reception, review, and resolution of complaints and denunciations concerning the elected deputies of the 16th National Assembly up to March 25, 2026, Nguyen Huu Dong stated:
– There were 498 individuals without any complaints, denunciations, or reflections.
– Two elected delegates had complaints. The competent authorities reviewed these complaints according to legal regulations and concluded that the complaints did not meet the conditions for resolution under the complaint and denunciation procedures.
However, with a cautious and attentive spirit, to assist the National Election Council in making a careful and lawful decision on confirming the qualifications of the 16th National Assembly deputies, the Subcommittee on Legal Documents and Complaint Resolution requested competent authorities to verify the information in the complaints and affirmed that the information in the complaints was unfounded.
The Subcommittee on Legal Documents and Complaint Resolution and the Personnel Subcommittee agreed to report to the National Election Council that the two individuals with complaints met the standards and qualifications to be 16th National Assembly deputies.
After soliciting written opinions and voting by ballot, with high consensus, all members of the National Election Council voted to approve the Resolution confirming that 500 elected individuals are qualified to be 16th National Assembly deputies.
On March 27, 2026, the National Election Council issued Resolution No. 238/NQ-HĐBCQG on confirming the qualifications of the 16th National Assembly deputies.
