The exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the United Nations aims to showcase the "Mother Earth Gaia" artwork and related artifacts about development goals and the shared responsibility in protecting the planet and building a sustainable future.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang expressed his delight and honour to participate in this meaningful event at a school that embodies the spirit of the United Nations, where values of learning, global citizenship, and international cooperation are promoted. He highly appreciated the role and contributions of UNIS Hanoi over the past three decades as one of the two United Nations international schools in the world and a symbol of the strong cooperation between Vietnam and the United Nations.

Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that the 80th anniversary of the United Nations is an occasion to reflect on the organization's significant achievements in maintaining peace, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening multilateralism. It is also an opportunity to look towards the future, enhancing cooperation and action to address global challenges such as conflict, poverty, inequality, climate change, and natural disasters.

In this context, the Deputy Minister affirmed that education plays a crucial role in nurturing compassion, intellect, and a shared sense of responsibility among the younger generation. Dang Hoang Giang commended UNIS Hanoi's efforts in integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into its curriculum and inspiring students to become responsible global citizens, contributing to building a peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable world.

The Deputy Minister expressed his admiration for the direct and powerful message of the "Mother Earth Gaia" artwork, considering it a profound reminder of humanity's shared responsibility in protecting the green planet – our common home. The exhibition emphasizes the importance of implementing the 2030 Agenda and the Declaration on Future Generations, where youth play an essential role in driving change and are key partners in creating a sustainable future.

Concluding his speech, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang called on the younger generation to nurture their dreams, learn, and contribute, joining hands to continue the United Nations' mission of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

The "Gaia" art exhibition at UNIS Hanoi features the work of British artist Luke Jerram, depicting the Earth suspended in three-dimensional space using satellite data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The event offers a unique artistic experience, conveying a message about the responsibility to protect the planet and act for a sustainable future.

The exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the United Nations also includes an experience space for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where visitors can learn how the UNIS community implements the SDGs through learning projects, community service activities, and personal commitments.
