MOFA supports Quang Ninh to attract resources for development

On 18 August, in Ha Long City, speaking at the conference to promote international integration of Quang Ninh province, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh asked departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to attract foreign resources to support Quang Ninh province’s socio-economic development.

The conference was jointly organized by the Quang Ninh province and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of 30th Diplomatic Conference.

Attending the meeting were Standing Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Foreign Ministers Le Hoai Trung and Nguyen Quoc Dung; Assistants to the Minister, heads of departments of MOFA and Ambassadors, heads of overseas Vietnamese missions.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Doc, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Long; Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, leaders of provincial departments/agencies and localities also presented at the conference.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy PM Minh lauded the socio-economic achievements that Quang Ninh made in recent years, especially all the foreign affairs works to the attraction of resources, helping the socio-economic development of the province.

He also emphasized that MOFA, including overseas missions, should further promote the attraction of investment resources to Quang Ninh.

The Deputy PM asked the Ambassadors and Consulate Generals in the designated areas where the province would like to have more support and consultation to enter the market, seeking new partners, promoting tourism for the province. He asked the head of missions abroad to work closely with leaders of the province on creating connections with partners from potential markets to attract foreign direct investment.

The Deputy PM stressed that, with the ODA capital no longer favorable as before, attracting other sources, including investment funds in the Middle East needs to be exploited, especially to attract investment in resort tourism, relatively suitable with the needs of Quang Ninh province.

Also related to tourism, including protecting heritages, especially Ha Long Bay, the Deputy PM suggested that the Department of Foreign Culture and UNESCO Vietnam  (MOFA) should work specifically with the Management Board of Ha Long Bay in the matter of preserving the heritage.

Regarding the proposal of the province in the border, territory and cross border economy issues, the Deputy PM suggested the National Border Committee and related departments continue to support the province on issues related to the border, border opening,…

Finally, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh affirmed that MOFA and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will accompany Quang Ninh in attracting external resources to promote the economy, helping the social development of the province, in line with the development orientation from "brown" to "green" of Quang Ninh.
