Letter from Minister of Foreign Affairs on 78th founding anniversary of diplomatic sector

In the Letter, the Foreign Minister said that, over the years, under the clear-sighted leadership of the Party, and with the attention, guidance and training from President Ho Chi Minh and the Party and State leaders, Vietnam's revolutionary diplomacy has won great achievements, making important contributions to the cause of national liberation, defense, construction, renewal and development. During the past 78 years, no matter how difficult or challenging, the diplomatic sector has always maintained its revolutionary mettle, loyally serving the Party, the Fatherland and the People, and persistently devoting for the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Since the 13th Party National Congress, under the leadership of the Central Committee, Politburo, the Secretariats and leaders of the Party and State, and with the close cooperation and coordination of all sectors, departments at all levels, the diplomatic sector has implemented synchronously, creatively and effectively the Party's foreign policy, making an important contribution to firmly consolidating the favorable external situation for maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, defending the Fatherland "early, from afar", mobilizing external resources to promote socio-economic recovery and development, continuing to raise the country's international position and prestige; building a professional, comprehensive and modern diplomatic sector that has been been promoted and made great progress and a contingent of diplomatic cadres of increasingly high mettle, morality and and capacity, with aspiration to devote to the development of the sector and the country.

Reviewing the path of 78 years, the Foreign Minister stated that diplomats of all generations are infinitely grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh, who founded and left behind a legacy of unique diplomatic ideas, style and art. All the diplomats nowadays are filled with deep gratitude to the previous generations of revolutionary diplomats who had worked hard to build and nurture the glorious tradition of the diplomatic sector.

The Foreign Minister also noted that along with the country, the diplomatic sector has entered a new development phase with a new mindset, new opportunities together with numerous difficulties and challenges that require a drastic renewal of thinking and actions, the synchronous and effective implementation of foreign affairs tasks in building and developing the diplomatic sector. Creatively applying Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thoughts, inheriting, preserving and promoting the glorious tradition of 78 years of diplomatic sector, all of cadres, civil servants and employees of the sector always stay united, make unceasing efforts, practising revolutionary morals and qualities, improving capacity and qualifications, striving for a truly clean, strong, comprehensive and modern diplomatic sector.

“With a long tradition and forged bravery, overcoming countless challenges over the past 78 years, we firmly believe that the diplomatic sector will continue to make an important contribution to building a powerful and prosperous country, living up to the trust of the Party, State and People”, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son stated.
