Israel attaches importance to developing its relations with Vietnam, Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said in a reception on January 3 for outgoing Vietnamese Ambassador Cao Tran Quoc Hai.

President Reuven Rivlin said he was impressed by great achievements gained by Vietnam in its Doi moi (Renewal), and national building and safeguarding.
He voiced his delight at fine development in the bilateral friendship and cooperation, while appreciating contributions made by the Ambassador to the relations.
He showed his belief that bilateral cooperation will be consolidated and expanded, for the interests of the two peoples.
Ambassador Hai thanked the President and ministries and sectors of Israel for helping him fulfil his tasks during his working tenure.
Recalling several outstanding achievements in bilateral ties, especially in economics, trade, investment, science, technology, education and tourism, he affirmed the two countries hold much potential to further develop their ties in different fields.
He took the occasion to thank Israel for supporting Vietnam’s membership of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) for the 2019-2025 tenure.
He stated he hopes both sides soon conclude negotiations towards the signing of a free trade agreement, and open a direct air route between the two countries, boosting economic and tourism cooperation.
