According to the MoH, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Viet Nam has actively implemented drastic measures to prevent and control the pandemic, with monitoring, testing, tracing, quarantine and treatment, effectively conducted in various flexible forms.
Central agencies and units have been suggested to proactively contact and make lists of subjects who have received the basic dose and register with units under the MoH, to organise the injection of full doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
The MoH required that units can arrange more mobile vaccination points or vaccinations at home (in case the vaccinated subject cannot travel) in accordance with the actual local situation and regulations.
The National Expanded Programme on Immunisation and the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology should base, on the proposals of the units, to properly distribute the COVID-19 vaccines.
As of December 28, over 148 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in Viet Nam. The coverage rate of at least one shot of the vaccine, and full two jabs is 79 percent and 66 percent of the national population, respectively, exceeding the target set by the WHO by the end of 2021.
So far, 39 provinces and cities have administered the injection of booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines, of which the southern provinces and cities have injected the most, with more than 1.2 million doses, followed by the North with more than 720,000 doses. The Central region ranked third, with more than 45,000 doses, followed by the Central Highlands region, with nearly 800 doses.
