Addressing the event, Ambassador Nga noted the festival offered the chance for foreign countries in Vietnam to introduce their cultures in order to promote friendship and mutual understanding among nations.

It is also a charity programmer in which visitors show their care and support for disadvantaged people living in especially difficult circumstances in Vietnam, she said.

So far such an annual festival has raised nearly VND3.1 billion to support women and children in need across Vietnam. Many people from Nha Trang, Hoa Binh, Ha Noi and Ben Tre to Ho Chi Minh City have benefitted from the fund.

This year, all the proceeds will be allocated to people in central Vietnam which was devastated by recent severe flooding.
