This is one of Vietnam's particularly significant diplomatic activities in 2025, marking General Secretary Tô Lâm's first state visit to Laos in his new role.
The visit takes place at a time of great significance as Laos celebrates its 50th National Day (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025) and ahead of the Congress of the two Parties scheduled for 2026.
The visit reaffirms the commitment of the leaders of the two Parties and countries to continue prioritizing the inheritance and development of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, in line with the strategic needs, vision, and interests of both nations in the new era.
Vietnam and Laos share a unique relationship in international relations, being close neighbors with a long-standing history of solidarity throughout the nation-building and defense processes of both peoples. This solid relationship was founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong, and has been nurtured by generations of leaders and citizens of the two Parties and countries, yielding remarkable achievements and breakthroughs in all fields.
In recent years, the relationship between the two countries has achieved many outstanding accomplishments, affirming the depth, trust, and vitality of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the new era.
