The event was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association Nguyen Quang Thieu, as well as current and former leaders of various ministries and branches, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Central Party Office, the Government Office, the Vietnam Friendship Organizations, and Communist Review magazine. Additionally, colleagues, subordinates of former Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Khoan, and students from the Diplomatic Academy were present.
The book "Vũ Khoan's Reflections Passed On" collects articles, writings, and speeches by former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan from the period of 2015-2023. The book consists of two main parts and true to its name, representing the "reflections" of former Deputy Prime Minister "passed on" to the next generation of the diplomatic sector as well as to the younger generation of the country.

Speaking at the event, Foreign Minister Son affirmed that the book is an invaluable source of knowledge for the diplomatic cadres, while also embodying the three major qualities of the former Deputy Prime Minister, which are humanity, intellect, and courage.
Firstly, Vũ Khoan had always been close, humble, and friendly with colleagues and the people, serving as a shining example of morality and work ethics, dedicating himself wholeheartedly and tirelessly for the work of collective and the nation.
Secondly, as the former Deputy Prime Minister, he always emphasized that to do a good work in foreign affairs, one must do good in research, taking research as the foundation, for a strong root leads to a sturdy tree. He also firmly grasped the dialectical methods of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought in foreign relations.
Thirdly, Vũ Khoan is a person of courage in diplomacy, especially in making independent decisions.

Sharing his personal impression during the time working with the late Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan, former Deputy Minister of Trade Luong Van Tu revealed that in the 1990s, he had the privilege of accompanying Mr. Vu Khoan on visits to Southeast Asian countries to promote Vietnam's relations with neighboring countries and advocate for Vietnam's accession to ASEAN. According to Mr. Tu, Mr. Vu Khoan played a significant role in leading the implementation of Resolution 07 of the Political Bureau on economic integration, laying the groundwork for Vietnam's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and deepening integration with the world.
At the event, Ms. Pham Chi Lan, former Secretary-General and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed her appreciation as she received invaluable guidance from the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly Mr. Vu Khoan and Mr. Le Mai, during the early years of the Doi Moi (Renewal) period, when Vietnam participated in WTO negotiations and various other endeavors, for which she remains deeply grateful.
From the perspective of a press agency, Editor-in-Chief of the World and Vietnam Report Nguyen Truong Son affirmed that former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan had the special ability to simplify complex stories, leading readers to a broader picture with profound analysis.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the first issue of the World and Vietnam Report (November 29, 1989 - 2014), Mr. Vu Khoan sent an article titled "These 25 years...", acknowledging himself as a close reader of the newspaper and sharing the challenges faced in the fierce competition within the journalism profession. He advised the World and Vietnam Report to maintain its identity as the press agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while also innovating itself to not only stay resilient but also shine brightly in the media landscape.
In an interview with the World and Vietnam Report, former President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga expressed her emotion about the book launch ceremony. She emphasized that this was a rare book introduction event, as everyone present came with all their love and respect for the former Deputy Prime Minister - someone who is not only an outstanding politician and diplomat but also a talented journalist. Above all, Vu Khoan embodies all the noble qualities, being not only a revered mentor but also a comrade, a close friend, and a humble individual.

Mr. Vu Khoan, former member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, former Deputy Prime Minister, was a leader who had made significant contributions to the country's process of opening up, innovation, and development. He is a communist exemplar of frugality, integrity, and selfless dedication, an outstanding diplomat with great credibility from the Party, the State, and the people.
The book "Vũ Khoan's Reflections Passed On" vividly portrays the true portrait of the late Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan - a noble soul, a sharp intellect, and a humble life, a shining example for generations to follow.
Mr. Vu Khoan (1937-2023) was born in Phu Xuyen district, Ha Tay province (now part of Hanoi city). He was a Vietnamese politician and diplomat, having held positions such as member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Trade, and Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
