The ASEAN Foreign Ministers shared the significance and emphasized the importance of the 35th Anniversary ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit, which is expected to be held in Kazan, Russian Federation, on June 17-18, 2026. They affirmed political commitment, strategic orientation, and the creation of new momentum for the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership and extensive cooperation in the future.
The Ministers also affirmed ASEAN's commitment to closely coordinate with Russia to ensure the success of the Summit, thereby promoting ASEAN's central role and ensuring balance in ASEAN's relations with partners, especially in the current volatile global and regional context.
At the meeting, the Ministers also shared assessments of recent developments in Myanmar and affirmed that the Five-Point Consensus remains the main guiding framework for ASEAN's engagement and support in promoting dialogue, reconciliation, long-term peace, and stability, helping to address humanitarian, development, and economic reconstruction issues in Myanmar, contributing to regional peace, security, stability, and ASEAN Community building.
Concurrently, the Ministers also suggested that in light of recent developments and in the spirit of Community, ASEAN should adopt a more proactive approach.

Speaking at the meeting, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the coordination and preparation efforts of ASEAN member countries and Russia for the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit on June 17-18, 2026. The Minister affirmed that Vietnam will actively participate and contribute to the success of the Summit.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung also shared the views of many countries on supporting ASEAN to continue active, constructive, and comprehensive engagement with Myanmar based on the Five-Point Consensus, including dialogue forms within the framework of the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit, to promote ASEAN's central role, contributing positively to national reconciliation, peace, stability, and development in Myanmar and the region.
