Foreign Minister hosted a reception for Angolan MOFA's Secretary of State

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed the visit of Secretary of State Domingos Vieira Lopes with many practical and meaningful activities, especially the organization of the Vietnam-Angola Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City in the context of the two countries' 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (November 12, 1975 - 2022).

Foreign Minister Son congratulated Angola on successfully holding the National Assembly and Presidential elections, highly appreciate the traditional friendship between the two countries. The Minister has affirmed that Vietnam stands ready to work together with Angola to deepen the bilateral relations in a practical and effective manner, and expressed thanks to the Government of Angola for creating favorable conditions for the community of more than 7,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Angola.

Angolan Secretary of State Lopes emphasised that Angola attaches importance to the long-standing friendship with Vietnam, one of the first countries setting up diplomatic ties with Angola after the African nation gained independence.

The Secretary of State said that this visit to Vietnam is aimed at concretizing the goal of diversifying the economy of the Angolan Government, of which Vietnam is a priority partner in the region.

The two sides discussed many specific measures to forge bilateral cooperation, such as enhancing the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; promoting the trading of products of both sides' strengths like agricultural pharmaceuticals products, wood, and expanding cooperation in the fields of education and training, oil and gas, digital transformation.

They also agreed to soon negotiate and sign important documents to create a legal framework for the cooperation and to hold the 7th meeting of the Inter-governmental Committee in Luanda as soon as conditions permit.
