In the buildup to the upcoming the13th National Party Congress, foreign diplomats in the nation unanimously agree that the success of the Party, the Government, and the people of Viet Nam in the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is an important factor in ensuring that the Party Congress takes place. Providing that the event happens as planned, it will be done in a safe manner with the aim of achieving great success.
“We are all responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Viet Nam's successes are proof that its policies have worked so well that the Vietnamese and foreigners living in Viet Nam have felt secure,” Palestinian Ambassador to Viet Nam Saadi Salama told a recent meeting of diplomatic corps and international organisations in Viet Nam announcing the 13th National Party Congress.
Irmina Perojo, charge’ d’affaires of the Cuban Embassy in Viet Nam, said following a challenging and turbulent year caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the leadership of the Party, Government, and State, coupled with the will of Vietnamese people has seen tremendous socio-economic achievements. This is in addition to success recorded in pandemic prevention and control.
“Viet Nam's success in combating the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed it to host the 13th National Party Congress, a very important political event. The success also allows diplomats and representatives of international organisations in Viet Nam to feel very safe, while other countries around the world are coping with complicated pandemic developments. We wish Viet Nam a successful hosting of the 13th National Party Congress. The success of the event will contribute to helping Viet Nam build socialism toward stronger development moving forward,” the Cuban diplomat stated.

During the course of last year, both Cuba and Viet Nam came together to launch a broad array of activities aimed at celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, as demonstrated by regular exchanges held between both country’s respective Communist Parties. Moving forward, Cuba aspires to express its gratitude to the Communist Party of Viet Nam for its continued steadfast support, as well as its commitment to further strengthening the exemplary relationship, friendship, co-operation, and solidarity between the two nations.
Furthermore, German Ambassador to Viet Nam Guido Hildner evaluated Vietnamese preparations for the political event, stating that plans have been done very carefully with well-prepared contents. He added that he hopes all of the preparatory work will enable the 13th National Party Congress to achieve great success.
“The 13th Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam will set major goals for national development. This will require the nation to work out a host of strategies and take action. However, Viet Nam has been very successful in 2020 and I believe that even in 2021, it will also prove successful in containing the pandemic.
So there are factors to be confident that Viet Nam will achieve its goals. In addition, Germany and Viet Nam will also take steps to further foster bilateral relations, especially in the economic filed,” said Ambassador Hildner.
Extending best wishes to the country for the upcoming National Party Congress of Viet Nam, Deputy Ambassador Winsley affirmed that the results of the Congress will bring about plenty of great benefits, not only for the country, but also for the wider world.
The British diplomat also raised the issue of combating climate change, a challenge which is of great concern to both sides, with an international conference on climate change set to take place this year.
Deputy Ambassador Winsley believes the country to be full of determination, with the UK hoping that during the year, the nation will demonstrate to the world its true level of determination in resolving common challenges, such as issues regarding climate change and environmental protection.
