In his message, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister is delighted to note the robust and continued growth of the bilateral ties at all levels.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son noted that since President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to Washington, D.C. in 2013, the two countries have witnessed tangible progress in all major fields of bilateral interest, including high- and senior-level dialogue and exchanges, trade and investment, war legacy issues, defense and security, science and technology, sustainable energy transition, healthcare, education, and people-to-people ties.

Vietnam and the US have also expanded cooperation far beyond the bilateral sphere to include effective coordination within multilateral mechanisms, particularly those led by ASEAN, as well as increasingly effective joint efforts to address global challenges of mutual concern, he stated.

“The depth and scope of our Comprehensive Partnership has reached a level that few could have predicted, and we owe it to the unwavering effort and dedication of the leaders and people on both sides”, FM Bui Thanh Son said in the message.

He also took the occasion to convey his regards and gratitude to the US Secretary of State as well as colleagues in the US Department of State and other important partner agencies in the US Government.

According to the Foreign Minister, the celebration of 10 years of Comprehensive Partnership is not just an occasion to look back in gratitude, it is also an opportunity to work together to identify concrete steps towards an even brighter future.

He affirmed Vietnam considers the US one of its key partners and stands ready to work with the US towards deepened, more substantive, and elevated ties, especially in trade, investment, new technology, innovation, etc… which will serve the interests of both peoples and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.

Vietnam will continue to support active and responsible US engagement with ASEAN and the Indo – Pacific, including within the framework of regional mechanisms like the ASEAN – US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the Mekong – US Partnership, and APEC.

“A decade may not be a particularly long time in the scheme of our shared history, yet we have travelled a truly remarkable journey together. I am eager to see how much further the next 10 years and beyond will take us”, , the Foreign Minister noted.
