During the meeting, Minister Son congratulated the EU and EU Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen for the successful organization of two significant events, contributing to further promoting ASEAN-EU relations and the EU's relations with the Indo-Pacific region, affirmed that the EU and its member states are top priority partners in Vietnam's foreign policy.
EU Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen emphasized that Vietnam is the only partner that has established five major cooperation frameworks with the EU in the areas of politics, defense, trade, investment, and energy; suggesting both sides to effectively implement the signed agreements, contributing to deepening and substantiating the relationship.
Minister Son expressed appreciation to the EU for prioritizing financial support for Vietnam's development in the past; hoping that the EU will continue supporting Vietnam in developing infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, and climate change response, as well as enhancing connectivity and energy transition.
Both sides also discuss specific measures to strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and the EU in the coming time; agreed upon contributing to maintaining peace, stability, ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the region and globally. They emphasize the importance of respecting the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
