Festival offers a taste of Vietnamese cuisine to Russians

A festival showcasing the diversity of Vietnamese cuisine took place in Moscow, Russia, from December 14 to 16, offering an opportunity for Vietnamese cooks and restaurants in Russia to introduce the best of Vietnamese taste to people in the host country and international friends.

Covering a space of up to 2,000 sq. metres, the festival featured dozens of booths showcasing the most appreciated Vietnamese dishes, including pho (noodle), nem cuon (spring roll), and xoi (sticky rice).

Yurgi, a visitor to the festival, said that he had lived and worked in Ha Noi for many years, and the festival helped him enjoyed the taste of his favourite dishes in Ha Noi again.

The festival also included performances of Vietnamese songs, dances, and martial arts, which drew much interest from visitors.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia, Ngo Duc Manh, said that during the recent bilateral cultural exchanges, more and more Russian people have visited Vietnam and tasted Vietnamese food. He expressed his hope that more Vietnamese Russian exchanges will be launched in Russia in the coming time.

The festival attracted the participation of ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN nations in Russia, who were excited to explore Vietnamese dishes and its agricultural products such as tea, coffee and vegetables.

Thanatip Upatising, Thai ambassador to Russia, revealed that he has been a fan of Vietnamese food since he was young, particularly ‘pho’. Complimenting the broth of ‘pho’ that he tasted at the festival, he stressed that Vietnamese food, particularly ‘pho’, has become popular around the world.
