Economic benefits reap from growing melons in Nam Dinh

Melon harvest season has come to Nam Duong and Nam Hung communes in northern Nam Dinh province.

Farmers grow different varieties of melons on 5 hectares of land, with an average yield of 222 - 250 quintals per ha, selling price of 1 - 1.5 million VND (39 - 59 USD) per quintals, giving farmers an income of 250 - 375 million VND (9,822 - 14,733 USD) per ha. Melons have high economic value, the cultivation time from planting to harvesting is 30 days, and the market is wide, making them ideal plants for locals in Nam Dinh province.
