The Dong Thap Muoi wetland reserve is more than just a destination; it is a mirror, where one glimpses not only the beauty of nature but also the quiet poetry of nostalgia and purity within oneself.
Nestled in the heart of the fertile Mekong Delta, this sanctuary is often likened to an endless southern countryside ballad. It is not simply a place to visit, but a vibrant symbol of Vietnam’s commitment to environmental preservation, a place that gently conveys the message: “live green, live in harmony with nature”.
Ecotourism projects here are developed with sustainability at their core, carefully minimising ecological impact while generating livelihoods for local communities through guided tours, lotus cultivation, beekeeping and the production of clean, natural delicacies.

As you tread along trails shaded by towering Melaleuca trees, it feels as though time begins to flow in reverse. The rich scent of resin, the birdsong, and the soft rustle of leaves blend into nature’s lullaby, soothing the soul and calling us back to the untouched beginnings of the earth.
And then there is the lotus. Spread across vast ponds, tender buds reach towards the sunlight, their subtle fragrance drifting through the air. The scene is reminiscent of an ancient verse: “The lotus is beautiful not only in bloom, but also in its quiet closure, noble and restrained, like the heart of a true gentleman”.
When the flood season arrives, the wetlands put on a new face. Birds dance through the ethereal sky, their every wingbeat a vibrant note in the symphony of life. And as golden light pours through the trees at sunset, shimmering on the water’s surface, you come to understand: it is often the simplest of things that stir the deepest emotions.
Dong Thap Muoi is also a place where visitors can truly immerse themselves in nature, through unique experiences such as paddling a hand-rowed boat and drifting through misty, dreamlike landscapes that resemble watercolour paintings. Floating meadows of velvet-green duckweed stretch endlessly, bright yellow sesbania flowers line the banks and flocks of white storks soar across the crimson dusk sky. Every moment here is a natural masterpiece, evoking a gentle, lasting resonance within the heart.
Ecotourism is not merely about observing nature, it is about understanding it, loving it and protecting it. For what matters is not only the scenery, but the life it holds.
