The province has also recently ranked 8th in the Provincial Competitiveness Index 2021 (PCI 2021) and been honored to receive a medal and certificate for being among the TOP 10 provinces and cities with excellent economic performance and Viet Nam’s highest PCI scores in 2021.

The province is currently concentrating on enhancing investment calling in traditional markets such as Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and Hong Kong (China). Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee has recently issued Resolution 04 on “building Thua Thien Hue as one of the great and distinctive centers of Vietnam and Southeast Asia in terms of culture and tourism for the 2021 - 2025 period and a vision to 2030”.
The goals and vision to develop the province's culture and tourism are then defined: By 2025, Thua Thien Hue will have become the whole country’s unique cultural and tourist center, Viet Nam’s typical Festival City, ASEAN Cultural City, ASEAN Clean Tourism City and ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City, as well as gained the Culturally Creative City title.
By 2030, Thua Thien Hue will deserve to be one of Southeast Asia’s major cultural and tourist centers, which is a premise to build Thua Thien Hue into Asia's Festival cities, as well as one of its great and distinctive cultural and tourist centers by 2045.

The province has also focused on investing in developing tourism and transport infrastructure, especially the Expansion and Upgrading Project of Phu Bai International Airport, which has started to be constructed and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022 or early 2023, with the capacity increasing to 5 million passengers per year.
This will be a favorable condition, as well as a great opportunity for increasing flights and opening new departure and arrival flight paths of Phu Bai International Airport, which not only turns Hue into the country’s major destination, but also contributes to promoting the city’s image, affirming its position, and enhancing the province's socio-economic development.
