Tri has opened the VIFW for five consecutive years. In 2014 he became the first Vietnamese designer to join the Asian Couture Federation. His new collections have been warmly received at VIFW every year.

Tri has participated in various fashion events in the world. Earlier this year, Rihanna and Katy Perry appeared on stages and magazines in Tri’s designs. Tri’s creations are considered a driving force in popularising the Vietnam fashion industry around the world.

This year’s VIFW will introduce fashion-lovers to collections from various international fashion designers and brands, including Tony Ward of Lebanon, Atelier Chardon Savard Fashion Academy of France, Jorge Duque of Colombia and A.AV and D.gnak of the Republic of Korea.

Apart from Tri, Vietnamese designers and brands joining the fashion week include Thuy Nguyen, Nguyen Tien Truyen, the Canifa brand with designer Le Ha, Eva De Eva with designer May Cortazi, Phoenix V brand, 21six by Sandy Doan, Tiny Ink brand by Hoang Quyen, Claret Giang Le and Cory Tran.

The VVIFW Fall/Winter 2017 will take place at the National Convention Centre. Best of Street Styles will turn the sidewalk by Trang Tien Plaza into a catwalk giving models and fashionistas a chance to show off their favourite outfits.

Truyen, the winner of Project Runway Vietnam 2015, has been known as a young and creative designer especially skilled in material treatment.

He will present a men’s ready to wear collection with designs “friendly to users and easily applicable in daily life”. He will combine a classic sensibility with modern features in this collection.

“This is the first time I have participated in a fashion event as an independent designer,” he said. “It’s a new experience and an opportunity for me to develop my career.”

Before the VIFW, the National Convention Centre will host Self-Portrait, a fashion show of designs by Ivy Moda, a popular Vietnamese fashion brand, on October 28. Pham Hoang Linh, production director of the show, said the latest collection consists of 80 designs for fall and winter.

The performance will star leading models such as Kikki Le, Miss Vietnam 2014 Ky Duyen, winner of Vietnam Next Top Model 2011 Hoang Thuy, winner of The Face 2016 contest Phi Phuong Anh and actress Hoang Thuy Linh. The jury of Vietnam Next Top Model, models Thanh Hang, Xuan Lan, and Vo Hoang Yen, will also attend the event.

The designs will include artistic features like foliage patterns, but they are still easy to wear.

Ivy Moda brand co-operated with illustrator Eris Tran who has worked with famous brands like Marchesa, Roberto Cavalli, Ralph Russo and Zuhair Murad. He also joined designers to create a wedding dress for footballer Messi’s spouse.

Le Ngoc Linh, vice director of the brand, said this year’s collection encourages people to highlight their own personalities through outfits.

“We expect that through our fashion show, all customers will know the trends of this season and can choose a design which is suitable for them.”
