Congratulating Mr. Cho Hyun on his appointment as Republic of Korea’s Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Son expressed his confidence that Minister Cho Hyun will make important contributions to enhancing Korea’s international standing, as well as to strengthening and deepening Vietnam–Korea relations.
Expressing his pleasure at having his first exchange with Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun affirmed his commitment to working closely with Vietnam to promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Republic of Korea across all areas.
During the talks, the two sides agreed to continue their cooperation and strengthen political trust between the two countries through exchanges of high-level and other-level delegations, including making good preparations for upcoming high-level visits. They also agreed to enhance cooperation in economy, trade, and investment, encourage Korean enterprises to invest in Vietnam, and facilitate mutual market access for businesses of both countries.
The two sides also agreed to step up cooperation in security and defense, science and technology, and to work closely together in supporting each other at international forums, including the ASEAN–Korea and Mekong–RoK mechanisms.
Both sides affirmed their commitment to effective coordination to ensure the successful organization of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Republic of Korea and the Mekong– RoK Summit at the end of 2025.
