The 25th meeting, held on September 11 and 12, followed the third meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee co-chaired by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin during the Vietnamese leader's official visit to Russia from September 8-10.

These meetings aimed to deploy agreements reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Vietnam in June 2024 and the phone talks between Party General Secretary and President To Lam, and President Putin in August, Hang said.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee's success in fostering the bilateral relations, with regular exchanges of high-level delegations and notable progress in the fields of agriculture, energy, transport, science, education, culture, tourism, and sports.

Looking forward, both sides agreed on over 100 items across more than 20 cooperation areas, signaling an unwavering commitment to bolstering ties in the spheres of politics-diplomacy, economy-trade-investment, agriculture, industry, energy-oil and gas, information-communications, science-education, culture-sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

These substantial outcomes reflect the determination of both countries to strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership, Hang affirmed, as Vietnam and Russia will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

The Vietnam sub-committee needs to seriously and actively realise agreements outlined in the Joint Statement on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership, according to the diplomat. She called for proactive cooperation, direct communication, and coordinated implementation of commitments, with timely reporting to higher authorities for issues beyond their jurisdiction.

In the fields of culture-sports, education-training, labour-tourism, and people-to-people exchange, the Deputy Minister proposed the two sides map out plans to organise activities solemnly and effectively to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Deputy Foreign Minister Hang advocated for promoting Vietnamese and Russian language teaching, student exchanges, human resources development, and extending electronic visa periods for Vietnamese citizens. Additionally, she stressed the importance of leveraging the 60,000-strong Vietnamese community in Russia as a bridge to foster collaboration.
