Cultural exchanges create a catalyst for cooperation and cohesion in ASEAN: Ambassador
Vietnamese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Tran Anh Vu emphasized that regularly organizing and participating in cultural exchange activities will increase understanding and connection between the people of the two countries in particular and ASEAN members in general.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Tran Anh Vu said he was very impressed with the cultural and human characteristics of Brunei Darussalam.
Ambassador Vu emphasized that regularly organizing and participating in cultural exchange activities will increase understanding and connection between the people of the two countries and ASEAN members in general.

Those good impressions are the impetus for Ambassador Tran Anh Vu to regularly organize and participate in exchange and introduce Vietnamese culture to ASEAN and international friends in Brunei Darussalam.
Ambassador Vu said that the development thinking and culture of Brunei and Vietnam and many ASEAN members have similarities. The people of both countries love peace and share the desire for sustainable development, with great emphasis on human factors and preserving cultural identity...
From those moral and cultural characteristics, Ambassador Vu believes that organizing and participating in cultural exchange activities will promote and deepen further cooperation between the two countries and between members of the "ASEAN Family" on all pillars.

To realize this idea, Ambassador Vu and the Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei have actively hosted and participated in many cultural events, such as introducing Vietnamese cuisine, and traditional music, and installing a statue at the ASEAN walking space in the capital of Brunei Darussalam.
Most recently, the Embassy coordinated with the Radisson hotel system and the Brunei Music Association to organize "Vietnamese Culture and Cuisine Week" in Brunei from October 27 to November 4, 2023. Ambassador Vu said more than 150 delegates participated in the opening ceremony, including the head of Brunei Government agencies, representatives of diplomatic missions, artists, intellectuals, businesses, media, and the Vietnamese community in Brunei.

In his opening remarks at this event, Ambassador Tran Anh Vu emphasized that cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges are essential in developing each country and the ASEAN integration process.
For Vietnam and Brunei, cultural and people-to-people exchanges are identified as important areas of cooperation within the framework of the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries for the period 2023 - 2027, which was approved at the official visit to Brunei Darussalam of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in February 2023.
In addition to events organized by the Embassy, the Vietnam Embassy in Brunei also actively participates in everyday activities of ASEAN and others hosted by the diplomatic corps in Bandar Seri Begawan. One of the highlighted events organized in October is the opening of the ASEAN Walk space in Brunei's capital.
The event had a positive response from representatives of ASEAN countries, with the participation of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei, former Secretary General of ASEAN Lim Jock Hoi, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Tran Hai Van…

Sharing the same opinion as Ambassador Vu, speaking at the ASEAN Walk Space opening ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports of Brunei also emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and promotion activities in ASEAN and between Brunei and Vietnam.
Introducing to the delegation when visiting the Vietnamese installation titled "Bamboo and House" at ASEAN Walk Space, Ambassador Vu said that the work was created based on cooperation between Vietnamese and Brunei artisans.
The work emphasizes the elements of cohesion, harmony, equality, and diversity, expressing cultural diversity in a unified. The work also uses the image of bamboo, a symbol of Vietnamese cultural icons, to portray solidarity, community cohesion, and the continuation of cultural values through generations.
Mr. Vu believes that regularly organizing and participating in such cultural exchange activities will contribute to increasing understanding and connection between the people of the two countries in particular and in ASEAN in general, thereby further promoting cooperation among ASEAN members in all fields.
