COVID-19: Viet Nam reports no new coronavirus cases on March 29 morning

The country recorded no fresh COVID-19 cases on the morning of March 29, leaving the overall number of coronavirus infections unchanged at 2,591, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among the national infection tally, 1,603 are local infections and 988 are imported from abroad.

As many as 2,308 have fully recovered from the SARS-CoV-2 virus so far, with the fatality count remaining at 35. Among those still under treatment, a total of 125 have tested negative for the virus at least once.

More than 44,830 people are being quarantined for health observation nationwide as part of the country's COVID-19 containment efforts.

According to the National Expanded Immunization Programme, more than 45,000 frontline medical workers along with members of community-based anti-COVID- groups had been injected with the COVID-19 vaccine across 19 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide.

After Viet Nam recorded two new cases who entered illegally the country recently, the Ministry of Health has underscored the need for border localities to redouble efforts to supervise entry activities and outline scenarios for COVID-19 testing, quarantine and treatment.

Alongside the Ministry's Health's 5K message, people are advised to actively report cases of people returning from pandemic-hit areas or foreign countries who fail to make health declarations. Meanwhile, those who wish to enter Viet Nam after receiving COVID-19 vaccine shots should follow the strict implementation of anti-pandemic measures.

Amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, border guards of northern provinces have intensified patrol in an effort to prevent and combat cross-border crimes and illegal immigration activities.
