Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2022 attracted great public audience
On September 12, or 17th day of the Eighth Lunar month, the Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2022 was kicked off at Kiep Bac Temple, Hung Dao commune, Chi Linh, province of Hai Duong.The annual Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival takes place in the Eighth Lunar month, which is in the middle of autumn, according to folk beliefs.

This year’s festival aimed to mark the 720th Commemoration of General Tran Hung Dao (or Tran Quoc Tuan), one of the most revered figures in Vietnam’s history.

The festival featured a range of traditional rituals and cultural activities such as incense-offering ceremonies, navy military parade with the participation of 1,500 fishmen and Nhat Nam martial art students of Hai Duong City along with around 50 boats on Luc Dau River. The navy military parade re-enacted three important victories of the Tran Dynasty over the Yuan-Mongol invaders over 700 years ago.

The Con Son-Kiep Bac relic site is closely associated with many well-known Vietnamese figures, such as national hero Tran Quoc Tuan and the world’s Great Man of Culture Nguyen Trai. The relic site reflects Vietnam’s historical, cultural, and religious values.

Through many historical changes, the relics and traditional festivals in Con Son - Kiep Bac have retained their values and become special attractions. Since 2010, Hai Duong has conducted several conservation projects.

Con Son - Kiep Bac was recognised as a national relic site in 1962 and a special national relic site in 2012. It hosts two major events every year - the Spring and Autumn festivals. The festivals have been recognised as national intangible cultural heritages and the relic site is aiming to become a World Heritage in the future.
