General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited the General Secretary and President of China to step onto the podium of honor. When the National Anthems of Vietnam and China sounded, 21 rounds of cannons were fired from the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long to welcome General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his Spouse Peng Liyuan. |
The two leaders together witnessed the Honor Guard of the Vietnam People's Army marching past the honor podium. |
After that, the two leaders moved from the Presidential Palace to the Party Central Committee headquarters to hold talks. |
It is the third visit to Vietnam by comrade Xi Jinping since the end of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in November 2012 in his capacity as the Party General Secretary. It is a reciprocal visit following General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China last year, and it marks the third mutual visit by leaders of the two Parties since 2015. This is an event of great importance to both Vietnam and China, affirming the two countries' desire and determination to continuously promote their neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, making the relationship more intensive and effective, for tangible benefits of their people. |
