Celebration of Africa Day will be held in Hanoi

WVR - The Embassies of African countries in Vietnam will mark the celebration of Africa Day in Hanoi to showcase the diverse cultures and traditions of African countries and the socio-economic development in the continent.

The celebration of Africa Day in Hanoi will be held on the 25th of May 2023, the day which is dedicated to commemorating the founding of The Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, which evolved into the current Africain Union in 2002.

The celebration will be organized by the African Group of Ambassadors in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnamese government. It is an opportunity to showcase the diverse cultures and traditions of African countries and the socio-economic development in the continent.

In this occasion, mainly two big activities will be organized. First on May 24, 2023 the Africa Group of Ambassadors in Vietnam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, and the Institute for Africa and Middle East Studies (IAMES) of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) will mark this event by a seminar with the theme of “Accelerating the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA): Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam”.

The second activity will be a reception ceremony, organized by the African Embassies to be attended by invitees from all walks of life (Diplomats, politicians, African community, academicians, schoolars, artists…etc).

The business seminar, will provide a platform for Vietnamese and African to explore ways and opportunities to strengthen trade and economic relations betwee African countries and Vietnam, especially via the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which will be discussed to highlight its opportunities and Challenges for both Africa andVietnam.

The Seminar will be attended by officials, academics, researchers, practitioners and business people among Vietnamese, African and International decision makers, and will be covered by the media.

The Ambassadors of African countries in Vietnam will emphasize the importance of strengthening the multifaceted partnership between African countries and Vietnam, promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two sides.

The reception ceremony will be attended by a Guest of Honor from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and by more than 150 guests. It will showcase the diverse traditions of the continent, especially presentation of various dishes from African cuisine, that will be provided by the eight African embassies in Hanoi (Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria and South Africa).
