From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; former Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dy Nien; former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh; Former Chairman of the Office of the President Dao Viet Trung; along with all leaders, former leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, Heads of Vietnamese representative Missions abroad, key officials of units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and civil servants, public employees, diplomatic officers who attended in person at the Conference Hall and or watching online at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs site.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that, looking back since the 13th Party National Congress and the National Conference on Foreign Affairs until now, the world and regional situation has undergone major changes. Besides the opportunities and advantages, there are many new developments, more complicated than forecast, and many new difficulties and challenges appear and seem severer than before.

The world is facing a turning point to a new, multi-polar, multi-center, multi-level situation. In particular, geostrategic competition is fiercer, power politics is increasing, conflict hot spots in some areas are breaking out; traditional and non-traditional security challenges are increasingly intertwined and complex, he stressed.

However, peace, cooperation and development are still common goals of the vast majority of countries and peoples. Equality, democracy, fairness, respect for international law and sustainable development are still common values of humanity. Digital transformation, green transformation along with the strong development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution pose new challenges, but also open up great opportunities for countries, the Foregn Minister noted.

In that context, the Foreign Minister emphasized that foreign affairs and diplomacy work has closely followed the guidelines on foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, the instructions of the Politburo, the Secretariat and Party leaders, the State, especially the instructions of the General Secretary at the National Conference on Foreign Affairs, at the same time strongly promoting the identity of "Vietnam's bamboo diplomacy".

As the Party General Secretary had made an overview at the recent 8th Central Conference of the 13th National Party Congress, "foreign affairs activities take place vibrantly, continuously and are a prominent highlight" in the country's overall achievements.
