Ambassador, could you elaborate on how the 2024 International Food Festival helps strengthen the Vietnam-China relationship and highlights the unique cultural values of the two nations, especially after the five-year absence of the Chinese Embassy from this annual event?
We recognize that this event is a large-scale gathering that attracts numerous diplomatic missions, representatives from local governments, and enterprises, creating a colorful feast for all the senses.

Notably, the International Food Festival serves as a bridge to promote cultural exchanges between nations, enrich culinary experiences for the public, and enhance the cultural and tourism image of Hanoi - a city of peace.
The event also showcases iconic dishes from around the world, offering participants a "global taste journey" right in Hanoi.
Above all, the Embassy hopes that through this festival, we can further strengthen the bonds of friendship between Vietnam and China, as well as with other participating countries.
What traditional dishes will the Embassy present at this year’s festival to reflect the cultural heritage of thousands of years of Chinese history, Ambassador?
At the International Food Festival 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam has prepared a special dish: Roujiamo (肉夹馍), a traditional delicacy from Shaanxi province.
Roujiamo is renowned for its crispy bread and savory meat filling, with a history spanning over 2,000 years, dating back to the Qin Dynasty. The preparation of this dish is meticulous, as it is not merely food but a cultural embodiment, showcasing the warmth and ingenuity of the people of Shaanxi.
We believe that cuisine is a gateway to understanding China and our rich cultural heritage. Many Vietnamese people first come to know China through its cuisine, and it is through food that they develop a deeper love for Chinese culture.
Moreover, China and Vietnam share profound similarities in the cultural foundations. Both nations regard cuisine as more than just a means to satisfy hunger; it is an art that harmonizes colors, aromas, and flavors.
Above all, cuisine is an integral part of culture, carrying the beauty of poetry and traditional values while reflecting a philosophy of life that conveys the spirit of harmony in Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
Thank you very much, Ambassador!
