In fact, nowadays, society pays great attention to the issue of bachelor's unemployment, college graduates must learn vocational trainings and the issue of choosing to go to university or not… In your opinion, what is the reason behind the situation of "excess teachers and shortage of workers"? Is it due to the unclear career orientation?

According to the survey results from the Graduate Employment Assessment Report 2020 of the Center for Training Support and Human Resource Supply (Ministry of Education and Training), the percentage of university graduates who have not yet had a job and are looking for a job accounted for nearly 20%. This figure is quite high, compared to the general unemployment rate of young people aged 20-24 which was 6.1% in the whole country in 2019.

In front of the fluctuations and changes of the world and the region, strict requirements on work and integration demand each person, especially young people to equip the knowledge and qualifications, skills and professional attitudes.

However, the unemployment rate remains high because of a variety of reasons.

Subjective factors include the learners' lack of goal orientation during the learning process, not knowing their own strengths, lack of consistency and making decision to follow the trend of hot industry without practical experience.

Objective reasons come from family, school and society. The family wants their children to pursue education in a pre-determined field because they believe it will pay well in the future and be well-respected by others. The institution lacks career orientation for either students or organizations, it is not deep and thorough, not oriented for each individual, but only for general communication.

In addition, society lacks many programs for widespread propagation. Students are particularly confused by social thinking, which brings false ideas like degrees are not valuable and many individuals do not study but still succeed. This unintentionally lowers their desire to work hard and study.

Is the number of young people unemployed still increasing because of massive training without employment solutions?

There will be a part of young people facing unemployment because of following the hot industry trend, leading to a surplus after graduation. It also comes from the lack of professional knowledge, effective working and social communication skills as well as practical experience.

In addition, connecting businesses is also an important part to open job opportunities for learners after graduation. It can be said that schools have plans and connections for this.

Additionally, establishing business networks is crucial for graduates' future career success. In facts, schools have plans and connections for this. However, maintaining sustainable business relationship is due to the behavior, expertise, skills and attitudes of young people.

The quick rise in popularity of doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees has had negative effects. What is your view on the fact that many students and parents are still uninterested in vocational training?

Nowadays, the training of all educational levels is now highly open, and many units have training licenses. People pursue education to advance their careers, broaden their personal horizons and become more globally and regionally integrated. The planning of exchanges brings a number of advantages, including the sharing of scientific knowledge among ASEAN nations and the development of people, society, and the nation as a whole world.

Because of the above values, many individuals are not afraid of difficulties and spend lots of money on learning and promotion, leading to a decrease in the number of apprentices.

It's a really good idea to know how to improve yourself and invest in learning, if that learning brings joy, knowledge, self-worth, and self-help. Moreover, raising the status of professions, helping families and society should be encouraged.

Do you have any advice for parents and children who are in a "hot" time when choosing a career today?

Instead of forcing children, parents need to accompany their children in their favorite choices and passions, creating favorable conditions for their progress and development. These choices must be based on their abilities and physical conditions, society's needs, family's financial situation, and training facilities to determine if they are really suitable for the major.

To students who failed college, please remember that studying is a part of life besides other important aspects such as family, health, friendship... and creating values depends on many other factors. The path of learning may have difficulties, but do not give up.

Therefore, even if the process of getting into university is taking longer than expected, it doesn't mean that you will not get succeed in the future life. Persistence is the key to success and value creation.

Especially for candidates who have failed in applying to their favourite university or major, it is really difficult to pursue and learn effectively while studying a major without interest and passion. Therefore, candidates need to consider carefully about their choice, if confused, they need to find a career counselor to share and be guided timely.

Thank you!
