The Vietnamese NA highly appreciates Cambodia’s chairmanship of the ASEAN and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) last year, which made positive contributions to the process of building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous ASEAN Community, Man said. He wished that the country will successfully host the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in May.
The NA Standing Vice Chairman expressed his delight at the growing cooperation and ties between the nations, their regular exchange of delegations and people-to-people exchanges, and good outcomes of their bilateral collaboration mechanisms.
He vowed that the Vietnamese NA will make every effort together with the Cambodian Senate to continue to strengthen cooperation, information exchange, and sharing of professional experiences, especially in the field of law making, supervision and decision-making on important matters. Man hoped the two legislative bodies will continue to unite and support each other at international forums.
The Vietnamese NA is about to host the ninth Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, he said, proposing the Cambodian Senate send a delegation to attend the event.
For his part, Secretary General of the Senate Oum Sarith lauded the friendship and cooperation shared between the countries and their law-making bodies, and thanked the support of the Vietnamese Party, State and people for Cambodia.
Highlighting that the Cambodian people never forget and are grateful to Vietnamese voluntary soldiers who helped Cambodia overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime, the Secretary General said he hopes the two parliaments, governments and peoples continue to strengthen their solidarity and mutual assistance in the time to come.
