Vietnam hopes for U.S. support and close coordination in APEC Year 2027: Deputy FM Nguyen Minh Hang

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang welcomed Camille Dawson on her first visit to Vietnam and expressed appreciation for the U.S. Embassy's collaboration in organizing a training course on communications for hosting APEC 2027. She noted Camille Dawson's direct involvement in sharing U.S. experiences in organizing major media events, especially during the 2023 APEC Economic Leaders' Week in San Francisco, USA, with the team responsible for external information in localities where APEC 2027 events will take place and key Vietnamese media agencies. This is seen as a practical activity supporting experience sharing and training cooperation.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed that alongside coordinating with economies to prepare content for meetings, Vietnam places great importance on communications, aiming to convey the image and message of APEC and Vietnam to the world. Vietnam is ready to facilitate international media operations and reporting. She also thanked the U.S. Government for its support during Vietnam's hosting of APEC in 2006 and 2017 and hopes for continued support and close cooperation from the United States to ensure the success of APEC 2027 in Vietnam.

Regarding bilateral cooperation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed that Vietnam values the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States and hopes to deepen and sustain the relationship. She suggested that both sides maintain exchanges at all levels, effectively implement high-level agreements, and promote balanced trade and investment development. Additionally, she advocated for expanding cooperation into high-tech fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, innovation, and human resource training, while enhancing the sharing of objective and positive information to strengthen cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Camille Dawson expressed her pleasure in visiting and working in Vietnam, affirming that the United States always values the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam. She stated the U.S. is ready to closely cooperate to promote priority areas of cooperation and support Vietnam in successfully organizing APEC 2027, including sharing lessons learned from hosting APEC 2023 and implementing APEC communications. She noted that this is a very specific and vivid example of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the United States and Vietnam.
