Dam made the above statement at his reception for Caitlin Weisen, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam on Tuesday.

He also suggested the UNDP help strengthen analysis capacity for such issues like domestic growth and international trade in order to design proper responses.

Dam took the occasion to reaffirm the Vietnamese Governments determination to successfully realize the Agenda 2030 which has been integrated into all national development strategies and programs.

Weisen highlighted the key contents of the United Nations’ 2019 Human Development Report in which the United Nations rolled out a string of recommendations to overcome inequalities in the 21st century.

She said Vietnam’s human development index has improved year by year, standing 118th out of 193 countries and territories.

The report disclosed the next generation of inequalities emerging around digital technology, education, and the climate crisis and proposes new ways of measuring and approaching inequalities.

Wiesen praised Vietnam for having firmly embarked on people-centered development and equality in its current socio-economic development strategies and plans.
